About
Kaialahui Foundation

At Kaialahui Foundation, we believe that by empowering local farmers and fostering collaboration and advocacy, we can create a future where Hawai'i's food system is resilient, sustainable, and equitable.

Together, we can ensure that our island communities thrive for generations to come, nourished by the abundance of our land and the strength of our collective spirit. Join us in cultivating a future of food sovereignty for Hawai'i.

Education

Education is the cornerstone of our mission. We believe that empowering farmers with knowledge and skills is essential for the sustainable management of Hawai'i's precious agricultural resources. Through innovative educational programs, workshops, and mentorship initiatives, we provide farmers with the tools and techniques needed to enhance food production while preserving the integrity of our ecosystems.

Collaboration

Collaboration is fundamental to our approach. We recognize that addressing the complex challenges facing our food system requires a unified effort. That's why we forge partnerships with local farmers, community organizations, government agencies, and businesses to create a supportive network dedicated to advancing food security in Hawai'i. Together, we leverage our collective expertise and resources to overcome obstacles and create lasting change.

Advocacy

Advocacy is at the heart of our work. We advocate for policies and initiatives that prioritize the needs of local farmers and promote a fair and equitable food system. From lobbying for increased funding for agricultural infrastructure to championing land stewardship practices, we are dedicated to amplifying the voices of Hawai'i's agricultural community and driving policy change at local and state levels.

What we believe in at Kaialahui Foundation…

We believe in helping and empowering our local migrant farmers with understanding grant funding for farmers.

Meet Rose and Sherwin Paculan, local Maui farmers. With the support and resources provided to the Paculan family, they were able to get the knowledge and help to acquire grant funds to acquire a farming tractor, which has helped them expand their farming capabilities and increase profitability with their farm.

We believe at Kaialahui, when farmers can work together hand-in-hand
we can address our food security issues and become a more sustainable aina and people.

Meet Ferdie, a local farmer, who got connected with other local farmers who helped to bridge a connection to afford Ferdie to get his produce into Pukalani Superette.
